This is what people financially contribute to a Cooperative to become a member. This can be paid immediately or over an extended period of time, depending on the co-op. With their buy-in, people purchase a membership (or Share) in the co-op which allows them to participate in decision-making, board elections, reap the co-op's benefits (or losses), and more.
